Cravat

What’s extra striking about this drink is how the small amount of amaretto almond liqueur manages to shine through quite a lot, and somehow determine the drink’s main profile.

The amaretto mixes well with genever, a combination we believe we are trying for the first time here. The lemon juice is needed to balance the sweetness from the liqueur. (But despite the fruit juice content the recipe says the drink should be stirred and not shaken).

The golden tone the amaretto gives the drink is beautiful we think. It almost looks like this drink is just a single spirit poured from a bottle, but the very first sip reveals it’s actually a mixed cocktail.
