We figured this coffee infused rum liqueur would go well with a nutty partner, and then we saw the walnut liqueur in our cupboard… To then balance the sweetness a generous amount of fresh lemon juice was needed. And voila – a coffee, rum and nut sour was created. Why not call it the “Eye Nut”?
We think the combination worked really well. Coffee and nuts together is almost like a cookie, and the rum base further enhances the sweet features. However the lemon then really counters the sweetness in a good way.
Could you have two in a row? Eye Nut!
Recipe by Cocktail Detour
2 oz Yellow Eye coffee & rum liqueur
0,75 oz fresh lemon juice
0,5 oz walnut liqueur
Shake all ingredients with fresh ice and strain into a tumbler glass.
