Gusano's Delight

Gusano's Delight

Just because it's a vegetable-based cocktail it doesn't have to be a Bloody Mary. This Gusano's Delight is made with avocado and it is that base that gives the cocktail a smooth texture and a very earthy and pleasant flavor. With mezcal being the base spirit you're in for a smoky experience which is then nicely complemented by the spicy Ancho Reyes liqueur. Gusano's Delight Recipe by Craig Schoettler & Marshall Altier Ingredients: 2 oz mezcal 0,5 oz Ancho Reyes chile liqueur 1,5 oz avocado

One Olive Left

When O'live Gin [https://www.olivegin.com/] kindly offered us to sample their pretty unique product, a gin made with olives, we knew we wanted to make some kind of The Last Word riff with it. ⠀ ⠀ Immediately we thought of spicy Ancho Reyes Verde, another “green” product we like, along with Chartreuse. Transfusion No. 1

Couldn’t resist bringing out this skeleton garnished straw, and shaking up Bar Canon’s transfusion cocktail. They all mix well together, creating a spooky good cocktail. We especially like the addition of chili liqueur, giving the drink a hair rising effect. Happy Halloween! Roman Holiday

The Roman Holiday might not sound like a winter cocktail, but look close in the ingredients list and you'll see the chili liqueur. And when this spicy spirit is combined with Cognac, rum and orange juice it actually feels like winter. This recipe is from bar Canon in Seattle and in their book there's an interesting text about how spicy spirits can be used to balance sweetness, in the same way as bitters and sours does. Ancho Reyes chili liqueur is relatively sweet on its own, but it's definitel

Spicy Santa

Spicy Santa

We're approaching Christmas quickly, and today we are making our first hot cocktail of the year. This is the Spicy Santa, a Cocktail Detour original, inspired by several other hot chocolate cocktails out there. We wanted to give the cocktail some heat, both regarding temperature and spice level. So we decided to pair the hot chocolate with Ancho Reys, a delicious chili liqueur. It is a quite spicy product and you don't wanna use too much of it because of this. So to take up the alcohol level a
