We find this drink rather elegant, with its pale colour and its subtle ingredients. Coconut water is rather unused as a cocktail ingredient, but it works beautifully we think. It is sweet and has a lot of coconut taste, but it doesn't come with the thick creamy (sometimes overwhelming) textures that coconut milk does. Also the chocolate notes here are so good. It's not a whole lot of chocolate liqueur used, but still it shines through in a much delightful way. The lime juice balances the swee

La Florida

La Florida

This is just a solid Daiquiri riff, adding chocolate and sweet vermouth to the iconic mix - plus tiny amounts of curaçao and grenadine. It works so well, and this cocktail is so full of flavour! Recipe adapted by Constantino Ribalaigua Vert (from Trader Vic’s Rum Cookery & Drinkery) Ingredients: 1 oz white rum 1 oz fresh lime juice 0,5 oz sweet vermouth 0,25 oz white crème de cacao 1 tsp. curaçao 1 tsp. grenadine Mixing: Shake all ingredients with fresh ice and strain into a chilled c

Bourbon and Butter

Bourbon and Butter

Adding peanut butter to a cocktail is unexpected, but actually really tasty. Nutty flavors in general go well in drinks, and peanuts are no exception. It does require some hard shaking though for that creamy butter to really blend with the ice-cold ingredients. And while the leftovers in the shaker might look a bit…weird, the poured cocktail itself is both beautiful, smooth and delicious. Battle Over Dutch

Battle Over Dutch

This is another gem from one of Frederic Yarm's [https://www.instagram.com/fredericyarm/] recipe packed cocktail books. It was probably the Swedish punsch in the recipe that caught our interest, along with the cream sherry which is an ingredient we like a lot. Battle Over Dutch Recipe from Merril & Co Ingredients: 1 oz cream sherry 1 oz Swedish punsch 0,5 oz cacao liqueur 0,5 oz lemon juice Mixing: Shake all ingredients with fresh ice and fine strain into a coupe. In Södra Sandby, a village in southern Sweden, Skånska Spritfabriken [https://spritfabriken.com/] are producing a line of very interesting gins. And the newest addition is a coffee gin, meaning a gin with a sublime taste of coffee. The possibilities to use this in cocktails are endless, but for our first attempt we created a dessert cocktail with chocolate and orgeat supporting the coffee gin. Turns out the velvety orgeat kind of hugs the coffee gin, and a smooth and silky cocktail is crea

SUN STEALER

SUN STEALER

We think the Japanese Roku gin is so elegant, and this is the perfect cocktail to showcase it in. Because there is a lot of gin in it, making this a martini-styled drink. But there is sweet vermouth instead of dry, plus there are two surprising additions of sweet chocolate liqueur and super bitter Fernet-Branca. It all comes together beautifully and forms an interesting and intriguing drink that we are likely to make gain. Sun Stealer Recipe by Henry Prendergast Ingredients: 2 oz gin

So, technically this drink is not really a Vesper, we know. But those into Swedish geography will get the word play, and we wanted to keep this post very Swedish. Because what could be more Swedish, or at least Scandinavian, than akvavit? For a long time it was only consumed neat, accompanying the Swedish “smorgasbords” both during Easter, Midsummer and Christmas. But something has changed, and now akvavit is a key ingredient in so many cocktails, and it's found at different bars throughout t

So apparently one of our favourite bars in NYC, Cienfuegos [http://www.cienfuegosny.com/], closed recently. We're actually a bit saddened about that. It was Brian over at Eat This NY [http://eatthisny.com/] who introduced us to Cienfuegos during one of his guided cocktail tours through lower Manhattan a few years ago. Luckily we still have a souvenir skull cocktail pick from the bar. We got it in one of their very strong zombie cocktail and kept it as a fond memory. Today that particular pic
